GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!

Quick plot summary: In the near future, women become infertile, and no one knows why. England is the only country in the world that still has a stabalized government. Every other country has tore itself apart due to the infertility problem. Starring Clive Owen, Julianne Moore.

One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Please go see it, take your friends.

Incredible plot/story, the dialogue is terrific, the acting even better, and the action scenes leave you with a sick feeling in your stomach. It makes you so glad you aren’t in their scenario.

The music/soundtrack in this movie is some of the best I’ve seen in years.

Rotten Tomatoes: 91%

WHIRLWIND! Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I have been in a whirlwind. A world of whirlwind. That’s hard to say outloud.

I am working full time now. I already completed the first half of the program I’m in in Winston-Salem. I miss Winston-Salem a lot. My corporate housing was paid for (along with utilities) so I am eternally greatful for that - living by yourself is hard with student loans and all that. I’m in Wilson, NC now, which is basically “King Metro” or something along those lines. It’s a metropolitan version of King, NC. It’s also really hot. I liked my corporate apartment. It was furnished and everything was basically paid for me. Now that I am permanently in Wilson, I realize I really took Winston-Salem for granted. I don’t mind Wilson, but it sucks having to drive to Raleigh to be anywhere near an urbanized community.

I bought a 2004 Dodge SRT-4. I was going to go with a GTO (see below) but I couldn’t find one anywhere near here for a decent price. My gross income doesn’t support me enough to buy anything more expensive than the SRT-4 (used), and it was the fastest car available for that price. I like it a lot, it’s definitely the fastest car I’ve ever driven - but the seats are uncomfortable for long trips, and I have to travel a lot with the company. Anything more than an hour of driving is annoying. It’s a good car though; I may replace the seats with the regular Neon seats if I can find some. The SRT-4 was developed by the same team that made the Chrysler 300 SRT-8, the Viper SRT-10, and whatever truck they did (another SRT-10). I think they may have made a Crossfire SRT-6 as well. The newest SRT-4 is going to be Dodge Caliber. Those things are pretty cool. But my car will absolutely FLY if you let it. It’s a gas guzzler, but not as bad as a GTO. Sometimes I still wish I bought a GTO, but I know I wouldn’t have been able to afford it. Ah well, once I get my loans paid off I can always get a used one down the road. That’s right!

I made some calculations using some sophisicated software at work and I came to the conclusion that paying off my student loans ahead of a 401k is a bad idea. I wanted to pay them off in 5 years, but after some amortization schedules and other figures, it would be MUCH more benficial to pay them off at a steady rate over 8 or 10 years while feeding funds into an IRA, mutual fund, or 401k account. Compound interest for the win.

I wish I won the lottery.

Right now I’m in a hotel in Charlotte. Another business trip to have meetings with people in my division. I’m all over the place! First I went to Louisville, Kentucky; then to Gloucester, Virginia; then to Virginia Beach, Virginia; then to Whiteville and Wilson, NC; then to Richmond, Virginia; then over to Charlotte, North Carolina; Raleigh, North Carolina, and another tour of Whiteville, North Carolina. Whew.

Graduated! Sunday, May 21st, 2006

I can’t believe I’m graduated! Wait, yes I can. That took FOREVER. That seemed longer than high school I’m pretty sure. But it was worth it. 4 years of college finally paid off, I got a job! I am working at a bank. I don’t want to divulge too many details because it’s against corporate policy but I am going to be making a very good salary for someone straight out of college. I’m excited! I am thinking about getting a new car. I’m 100% positive I’m going to get SOMETHING, I’m just not sure what. I can tell you this: It will be something I really want, or something that’s incredibly cheap (not quality, just price). On to what I really want: a used 2005 Pontiac GTO. I won’t lie, the only reason I want it is because it has 400 Horsepower in a coupe. That’s fun! I just can’t justify spending more than 14,000 or so on a car that I don’t want. And I won’t. It’s either the $25,000 2005 GTO or a $14,000 Honda Civic or something. The 2006 GTOs are like $34,000. I can’t afford that. So a 2005 will do just fine, as long as it’s still under warranty. And I can find one under warranty. Used.

2005 Pontiac GTO

I am still working at Camp Hanes until my job starts June 27th. I’m going to start saving up as much money as possible, for whatever reason. I’m hoping to have a nice down payment for a car by August or so. That would be nice. The problem is, I have to travel to work everyday during my 6 months of training I have to go through first, and I have to travel to different locations as well. My 1987 Caprice won’t handle that too well. I mean normally, it wouldn’t matter - if I break down, I just get it fixed. But at a nice place like where I’m working, there is no tolerance for being late. At all. So I’m in a pickle - I need a new car, and I need it now. Should I go with the cheapo Honda or what I really want? Jeremy doesn’t know!

I made A A A A A my final semester of college. In fact, my senior year, I didn’t make anything less than an A in any class. It looks like this if you are wondering: A A A A A A A A A A

I tried hard, harder than most, so I feel I have bragging rights. Suck it!

Me and Benjamin have so much crap to unpack in our room from college. I don’t think I’m going to unpack it. That sounds like a plan. It looks sort of like a warehouse in our room here at home, but I mean seriously, if I unpack everything, where would I put it? There’s no room.

Oh yeah, forgot, at my job, I will be in Winston-Salem for 3 months, then Wilson, NC for 3 months. Then the training is over, and I’m put wherever the company needs me from then on. Hopefully it will be in North Carolina! I don’t want to be far away from my girlfriend. She would rather stay in NC as well. But I know we can make it work no matter what happens so I’m not too worried about it.

WE WENT TO DISNEY WORLD. Me and Jessica. It was really fun. Her friend Chris Tom let us stay in his apartment and he even got us into Disney World for free! It took 9 hours approximately to drive down to Orlando from her house in Lumberton, NC. I drove to her house from here in my Caprice and it did just fine, surprisingly. The first day we went to Magic Kingdom. It was pretty fun. We rode all sorts of stuff that made me sick (but I didn’t puke!), including Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, some haunted mansion, and saw a 3-d show. It was really cool. The second day, we went to Universal Studios (where we most DEFINITELY didn’t get in for free!). The tickets were really, really expensive, but we had a lot of fun. We bought the Express tickets also so we could jump to the front of the line, so we got to ride everything in one day. We rode the Hulk rollercoaster, which I SERIOUSLY almost threw up on. Then we did Spiderman, it was a REALLY cool 3-d/ride on rails sort of deal. The different Spiderman villains jumped out at you in 3-d. We rode the Twin Dragons rollercoaster, which almost made me puke too. We rode a teacup ride. The Jurassic Park ride (in which we rode twice!!!) put Splash Mountain to shame at Disney World. It was really fun. The drop at the end into the water is seriously scary. A T-Rex jumps out of the ceiling at you right before you fall down like 50 ft. After an exhaustive stay in the new part of Universal Studios, we headed to the old part mid-afternoon. We rode The Mummy ride, stopped 4 or 5 girls from cutting in line, the Men in Black ride, the Terminator 2: 3-d show, and then called it a day. The tickets came out to be around $110 a piece, but we had fun, and you don’t get to go to Orlando everyday, so it’s ok. Plus I got my picture taken with Wolverine.

The next day we went to Animal Kingdom and MGM at Disney World. At Animal Kingdom, we rode a Safari Ride where we got to see real animals, including a real lion and other african native animals. It was really cool and really bumpy. We went to see A Bug’s Life 3-d show also. The seats were “interactive,” meaning bees really “stung” you, you could smell when a stink bug……uh, let out fumes, and all sorts of stuff. We rode a dinosaur ride that was REALLY REALLY fun also. It was overall funner than Jurassic Park. Lastly, we rode Everest, the newest Disney ride. It’s similar to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, except it takes place on Mount Everest instead of a canyonesque mountainscape. It was REALLY cool.

After that we headed over to MGM and rode pretty much everything. The Tower of Terror was really really awesome as well; you dropped and got lifted up over and over and it was similar, to well, flying. We rode the Rockin’ Rollercoaster (featuring Aerosmith) after that. It was REALLY fast and even went upside down, even though the ride itself is INSIDE! Some kids behind us were making farting noises the entire time in line and I was going to say something to them but decided not to at the last moment because we were almost at the ride. We rode the Star Tours ride (which is a Star Wars attraction). It was fun, but dated. We saw the Indiana Jones stunt show which was fun. The best part about MGM was the Lights, Automotive, Action! show. It’s a car stunt show where the show is set in a huge stadium and made to look like a film is being ……..filmed. Car chases occur and explosions go off everywhere, while the cars have DEADLY accuracy, power sliding all over the place without touching each other.

We got to see “Fantasmick,” the watershow at MGM late at night. It was INSANE. They actually projected movie clips onto a wall of WATER! Not a wall with water on it, just WATER. Crazy!

The next day, we went to Epcot. It was interesting, but not as action-packed as the other parks. The big golf ball you see all the time is actually a ride. It’s called the Geosphere, not a golf ball. But I kept calling it the golf ball. We rode a test drive track ride, which broke down in the middle of the ride. It simulated the tests that new cars go through before they hit the lot. It was fun, but the break down in the middle of the ride sort of ruined it. The people in the car behind us got caught beneath the part of the ride that blows freezing cold air on you. Owned.

We also visited multiple “countries” in Epcot. There are restaurants and information centers and gift shops and even small rides for many of the countries on Earth. Fun! We rode the Mexico ride and the Viking ride. It was REALLY hot that day. We rode a ride called “Soarin’,” which emulated a hang glider. It was seriously awesome. You really felt like you were soaring over mountains and stuff. We visited the Aquarium as well, and saw dolphins! We watched the interactive Finding Nemo with Crash show. It was creepy and cool. The character “Crash” (he’s a turtle) from the movie actually talks to the audience and his mouth moves and syncs up perfectly. It isn’t prerecorded at all - he talks to individuals IN the audience and even answers questions they ask! At night, Epcot had a on-the-ground firework show. It was cool, but not as cool as the MGM show. We left exhausted!

The last day we went home. The trip back home didn’t seem as long as the trip to Orlando, even though it took about the same amount of time. Jess’ car did fine, all 18 hours of driving. Hondas are good cars!

Making my car better Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

So I’ve spent a lot of time (and even more money) on fixing my car up. It seems like every time I fix one thing, something else falls apart. But things may be changing… I’ve always had an engine overheating problem, and it finally got to the point where I couldn’t even drive anywhere because my coolant was leaking out like someone had clipped a hose. I had two shops look at it who both came to the wrong conclusion. The first shop thought it was a copper pipe that runs from my engine to the radiator in the front, and he replaced it. The thing is, that the leak was nowhere near that pipe nor did this fix my problem. The second shop claimed I had a cracked engine block. They gave me a good scare; a new engine cost around $1200-$2000 and then you have to pay to get it installed. Finally I had the car towed back to Raleigh and had Dan take a look at it. Dan’s a pretty cool guy, a NC State graduate, who has been working with me on my car (well he works on it, I watch because I don’t know jack) since before Christmas. Dan ended up taking the turbo and exhaust manifold off the engine and discovered the true problem; a cracked hose that was so far up the engine’s ass that you couldn’t see it without taking the car apart first.

Finally this was fixed. However, another problem has come up. My clutch is pretty much shot and a new one is going to cost anywhere from $220-$310. Dan’s going to help out with this also as well as finishing the suspension upgrade. After this job, I’ve got only one more mechanical issue to fix. My TVIS is shot, but a new one is relatively cheap. The only deal is installing it because it’s a bitch to get to.

Hopefully I’ll get this shit straightened out. I want my car to look like this:

I graduate college in like 2 weeks and I don’t have a job yet. I’ve applied for 10 or so jobs and interviewed with one and haven’t got a response from anything. Looks like I’ll be throwing down at Camp Hanes this summer until I get a job. Some people take a few months off from the stresses of college before they look for a job. That’s not gonna happen with me since I have $30,000 in loans to pay off.

My character in World of Warcraft is pretty cool. I got into a pretty big raiding guild and have became one of the core raiders. I got Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros for my warrior due to my raid attendance and PVP skill!

It’s really gonna suck having to stop doing nothing for most of the day and get a job and live the regular life, but it will be very nice to not have to worry about dickhead professors and “making a C. Tabetha and I have been going out for almost 4 years now!! That’s a pretty long time. After I graduate we get to see each other everyday which will be a nice change of pace from a 4-year long distance relationship. Of course, all of my plans after college have to do with actually getting a job, which I’m very much failing at right now. 5 years ago when I was in high school my field was booming. There was 5 Computer Information Systems job for every 1 CIS major. Then the .Com collapse occured and the industry fucked itself over. Now, as I’m graduating, there is 5 CIS majors for every 1 CIS job. I’m hoping my 3.5 cumulative GPA and my 3.96 major GPA will help me get ahead.

We saw Silent Hill last night. It was “ok. The first half mimicked the first game so well that I was actually enjoying the movie. Then the second half just plain and simple sucked, bad enough to ruin the movie. I wouldn’t say it was a good movie, but it was definitely entertaining if you’ve played the game. I also didn’t think it was frightening, horrific, or scary/startling at all. Maybe because I’ve already been scarred by the game? Ha ha.

I wish a fucking company would just hire me. I know I can do any task given to me in the business world related to management, CIS, or journalism. I can write, I know how to be a good manager, and I know a boatload about computer hardware and CIS. I’m willing to work hard and produce quality services and products. I would be a good worker!! But it’s not about that. It’s about the first 5 seconds of the interview when the interviewer decides if you’re getting the job or not, most likely based on your physical appearance. I’ll just keep applying to every CIS job I see and hope that all of the other people miss one that I apply for.
