Black Friday…

…is utterly ridiculous. What happened? I mean two years ago it wasn’t THAT bad. I remember me and Benjamin got to Circuit City around 4:30 AM to wait in line and maybe 10 or 15 people were there already. I thought THAT was amazing. Me and David went to see Harry Potter again (I had already seen it, he hadn’t) on Thursday night. After it was over (around 1:00 AM or so) we headed back home. Little did I know I should’ve got in line at Best Buy instead. So I get home and talk to Jessica some and decide I’m going to get one of those nifty laptops for $380 at Best Buy/Wal-Mart. Or maybe one of those $150 PCs at Best Buy. Bad. Freakin’. Mistake.

At first I was going to simply go to bed at 3 am, wake up at 4 am, and head over to Best Buy. But my gut instinct told me to GO NOW! So I go to Best Buy and get there around 3:20 AM. Big. Freakin’. Mistake. I counted 350 people in line already. At 3:20 AM. Ugh!!! Freaks!!!!!!

So I decide that it was stupid and I was going to go to Waffle House instead. I go and eat, and it’s packed. I wonder why. Anyway, I get out of there around 4:00 AM, head over to the Super Wal-Mart nearby, and check on the dealio about the $380 laptops they were offering there also. Bad. Freakin’. Idea. There were about 50 people in line WITH SHOPPING CARTS ready to snatch them up as soon as 5:00 AM rolled around. Cops were guarding the laptops.

So I turn around and leave. A lady behind me is yelling to everyone in the store that the “$50 gameboys and $400 laptops are already gone” and to “stop wasting your time.” She didn’t work there.

I decide to just drive on over to Best Buy and walk in at 5:00 AM and just rush ahead and grab me a laptop/pc. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

So anyway, I get there around 4:30 AM and there is around, give or take, 700 people in line. I ask the cop, who was conveniently guarding one “section” of the line (there were 4 or 5 cops there total) when the people who were #1 in line got there. He said the night before, when Best Buy hadn’t even closed yet. FREAKS!!!!

I wait in line from 4:30 to 4:50 AM, when they opened the doors (early!). By the time half the line got inside, the laptops and PCs were gone, and people were leaving already to beat the traffic to go back home (without laptops or PCs). By the time I got inside, the main reason I was there besides the laptop/PCs (to buy The Shield seasons 1 2 and 3) were already sold out. By the time I got inside. By the time I got inside.

Ugh.

The line to checkout was wrapped around the store already, and it was 5:02 AM.

I left, drove back home, and went back to sleep, giftless.

And I didn’t care. I gave it all I had. I’m not sitting over night at Best Buy with yuppies with lawn chairs. I was just mad that I had driven to Winston twice in 6 hours, driven all around Winston, and in a car that gets really shitty gas mileage. For nothing.

I’m never going shopping on Black Friday ever again*

*never attempting to go shopping on Black Friday ever again, since I technically didn’t buy anything.

The semester is almost over and it couldn’t come sooner. I am feeling an A, A, A, A, and B. What a shitfest. Finance with a B. Oh well. Better than B, C, C, D, F or something.

I don’t like divulging private little details about my personal life but let’s just say I’m really really really really happy right now and am thankful for you in my life. You know who you are!

So I just read what you wrote, and it made me super happy. I don’t even know if you know I read this sometimes, but I do (when I think about it). Let me just say that I too am really really really happy right now, and I am also very thankful for you (I hope you were talking about me when you said that b/c if you weren’t I’m going to look stupid :-p). I can’t wait to see you tomorrow!! I love you so much!
